Claire grew up against the dramatic backdrop of the Olympia Peninsula in Washington State directly across from Victoria, British Columbia. After college, Claire studied art at the National Academy of Art in New York City. After New York Claire moved to the island of Nantucket where she raised a daughter. During this time, Claire created a cottage industry of hand-hooked rugs and quilts from her island inn. She proceeded to grow this company into a multi-faceted and successful consumer brand known world-wide. Using Nantucket’s incredible history of strong women inspired by the sea, she took this great history of seafaring tradition to inspire many of her designs.
